Ant Bite! Not Clickbait!!!

The rest of the group arrived late last night, and we had a wonderful dinner of chicken (or bell peppers for the vegetarians), steamed vegetables, and mashed potatoes. The next morning, after breakfast, we headed up to the lab. The professors caught the rest of the group up on the types of ants and we started our digging. We learned specifically about soldier ants, a caste of ants meant to protect the colony. They have large jaws and a mean bite. While we were told that there wouldn't be many, we were rushed by a few when we started digging. Izzy, our bravest soldier, was brutally attacked. A soldier ant climbed up her shirt and lodged itself in her belly button. (she's fine lol)

A bus that took some groups out to dig ant colonies!

We also saw an orchid! They only bloom one day out of the year!

  1. Oh no! A soldier ant bite to the navel sounds painful but glad Izzy is okay! The orchid is beautiful, what a special treat. We would love to order the four pack of chocolate and the cafe (assume that is coffee beans or is that coffee flavored chocolate?) Let us know how payment is handled.
